so have modified my xconfig file to "MouseSystems" in the PS2 input section because my PS2 plugged wheelmouse would be erratic on startup with the existing default "auto". cannot confirm that this has improved the situation. only solution so far is to only plug the mouse into the PS2 port after all startup booting has ceased. the wheelmouse will then act as a nonwheel mouse (even with the MouseSystems modification). perhaps your improvement has come about as a result of the other modification you have suggested. havent figured out how to accomplish that modification as yet.

ie. is the memfile directory empty? which file do the label dos modifications go?
