There are two basic variations for installing Knoppix on a hard drive:
1. Installing Knoppix as the only operating system on a single hard drive system is simple:

2. Installing Knoppix as one operating system on a multiple partition and/or multiple drive system.
- install any operating systems requiring primary partitions first - reboot with Knoppix from CD/DVD - read the help file that appears - open the root terminal - hit enter when asked for password - run knoppix-installer - choose option 1 then option 3 to partition before installing - choose primary partition for grub if this is the only linux - choose boot partition of second or subsequent multiple OS install
