Tux is the official Linux logo — a satiated, happy, chubby penguin. The idea of the Linux mascot being a penguin came from Linus Torvalds, the creator of the Linux kernel.
Tux was designed during a contest to determine the best Linux logo.
In a hardware box, Tux indicates the hardware includes Linux drivers. In a computer, it indicates it includes Linux like operating system ( exclusively or with another operating system).
