$99.00

ABOUT:For your consideration is a late 90's top-tier Thinkpad 770 with optional DVD drive, offered for an IBM enthusiast to restore or scavenge parts from. This unit hasNO hard drive caddy, but does have RAM, DVD drive, charger, and a complete assortment of documentation including the original IBM branded charger bag! Because this unit is missing its caddy, it is offered ASIS and for parts.
Please remember that, while I am a retro tech enthusiast, I am not an expert on the specifics of any given piece of retro technology. Some small components may be missing that I am not familiar with, so please ask any questions BEFORE offerding. This is a piece of 1990's technology that is incomplete, and offerding on it constitutes an interest to tinker with the understanding of potential unexpected hurdles common to retro IBM Thinkpad 770, Type 9549• Pentium MMX CPU• 160 MB RAM installed• DVD-ROM in swappable bay• *NO CADDY INSTALLED IN HDD BAY* (door is still included)• serial, parallel, USB, onboard audio• Original Power Supply is included with original IBM-branded cary bag• Battery is included (but is vintage, so is sold as non-functional)• Multiple pieces of original documentation included (see photo)
• Laptop has been tested to power on and run internal diagnostics, but the unit is missing caddy and cannot boot from DVD-ROM so no further testing was AND TESTING: Laptop is in average condition and has no cracks or serious yellowing of the plastics. Keyboard is squishy but reasonably responsive for the age, tracepoint and soft-touch mouse buttons are in good shape and have not become gooey. The IBM soft-touch plastics have begun to become sticky as is the case for all 90's Thinkpads, and multiple eras on the palm rest and back have chunks of missing soft-touch is a used, barebones, vintage laptop that is offered ASIS for enthusiastrebuild or collecting. It is not a modern computer and will require tinkering to findcompatiblecomponents. I am offering this unit to another enthusiast with theunderstanding that the buyer is willing toundertake responsibility for the many repair and maintenance variables that come with antique computer components including such delicate tasks as capacitor replacement.
